Overview of Share Buyback Results and Cancellation

Mitsubishi Corporation acquired 318,397,611 shares of treasury stock through market purchase on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and tender offer during the period from April 4, 2025 to March 24, 2026, at a total consideration of JPY 999,999,552,401. Between March 1 and March 24, 2026, 11,688,800 shares were acquired at a total of JPY 60,686,715,500. Furthermore, the company plans to cancel 4,028,926,353 shares of treasury stock on April 30, 2026, which corresponds to 7.9% of the total issued shares before cancellation. The total issued shares after cancellation will be 3,710,528,742 shares.

Impact on Shareholders and Future Outlook

This share buyback and cancellation aims to suppress dilution of issued shares and enhance shareholder value. The maximum acquisition amount is set at JPY 1 trillion, and the maximum number of shares to be acquired is 689,000,000 shares (approximately 17% of total issued shares). The current acquisition and cancellation were conducted based on these limits. As the number of issued shares decreases due to cancellation, improvements in earnings per share and shareholder value are expected.
