Domestic retail sales in January 2026 reached 107.0% year-over-year, with store sales at 108.5% and e-commerce sales at 102.0%, showing favorable trends. Conversely, same-store sales were 93.0% year-over-year, estimated to have been impacted approximately -2.5% by one less holiday compared to the prior year. In stores, the proper price sales of mid-weight clothing performed well, but sales of heavy clothing slowed due to an unseasonably warm winter. On the e-commerce front, customer preferential campaigns were effective, significantly boosting e-commerce sales of the Narumiya brand.

Store Count and Impact of M&A

The number of domestic retail stores at the end of January 2026 was 2,536, representing a significant increase from the previous month. This rise was primarily due to the consolidation of Right-on Co., Ltd. as a subsidiary through M&A in December. There were 128 store openings and 80 closures, maintaining a net increase. The number of stores subject to same-store sales comparison was 2,098, with the decline in same-store sales attributed in part to sluggish growth in sale promotions and the decrease in holidays.
