Overview of Results

Net sales for the second quarter exceeded the prior-year period, rising 4.8% to 28,258 million yen. However, operating income decreased by 571 million yen and ordinary income fell by 701 million yen. On a consolidated basis, the shipping, hotel, real estate, and other segments experienced increases and decreases compared with the prior period, and there were shifts in total assets and liability composition. Progress against the medium-term management plan is shown as net sales 56,300 million yen (progress rate 51.9%), operating income 3,000 million yen (progress rate 30.9%), and ordinary income 3,500 million yen (progress rate 46.5%).

Outlook and Impact on Shareholders

By segment, shipping saw volume increases but margins were squeezed by rising costs, while hotel and real estate continued to achieve higher revenue and profit. Based on interim results and half-year progress against the forecasts, the company aims for full-year progress rates of 50.0% for net sales, 41.7% for operating income, 46.5% for ordinary income, and a recovery of net income to the zero range.
